About Nicoló Filippo

Nicolò Filippo Rosso (b. 1985) is an internationally renowned photographer, recognized for his powerful and evocative documentary work.

Rosso’s photographic journey has taken him to various corners of the globe, spanning the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa.

Witnessing stories of trauma, inequality, and injustice, he chose to tell stories of abandoned communities, mass migration crises, conflict, and climate change.
In 2021, he received the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund for Humanistic Photography. In 2024, he was the recipient of The Alexia. His work has also been recognized with two Getty Editorial Grants, seven Pictures of the Year International, including the World Understanding Award in 2024, four Best of Photojournalism (NPPA), a National Magazine Award (with Stranger’s Guide), an International Photography Award (Photographer of the Year, Deeper Perspective, 2020), two World Report Awards, Premio Ponchielli, Prix ANI-PixTrack, Luis Valtueña (finalist), the Romano Cagnoni Award, the BarTur Photo Award, the Leica Oscar Barnack Award (finalist), and a World Press Photo.
