About Susana

Dr Susana Carmona is a Senior Researcher at the Instituto de Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid. She directs the neuroimaging laboratory “Neuromaternal”, a highly interdisciplinary lab that specialises in studying the human maternal brain with experts from various fields such as psychology, biology, physics, and engineering.

Susana is passionate about scientific outreach. Her scientific contributions include 62 peer-reviewed publications, two books and several book chapters, the direction of national and international research projects, the supervision of six doctoral theses, an intellectual property registration, and four national awards.

She has a PhD in neuroscience and is the proud mother of Alexandra, a lively 9-year-old.
