Dr Candace J. Black is a research scientist with the Research Program on Children and Adversity (RPCA) at the Boston College School of Social Work. Her research focuses on the biopsychosocial impact of trauma in children and adolescents, particularly in low-resource, conflict-affected settings. She is currently investigating biobehavioral pathways linking adverse experiences to poor health, to identify intervention targets in the Intergenerational Study on War-Affected Youth. In parallel, she uses implementation science to assess intervention–environment fit in the context of scaling an evidence-based intervention in rural Rwanda. Prior to joining the RPCA, she completed a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship studying biological embedding of stress in Syrian refugee children in the UK.
