
Professor Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin is a physician and public health leader with 25 years of multidisciplinary experience in government and non-governmental institutions, academia and hospitals, at global and national levels. She has effectively led institutional reforms and national emergency responses, and strengthened national health systems with evidence-based policy and interventions, including innovations. Her work fosters a culture of continuous learning, inspiring team collaboration to achieve common goals for patient and population health.
Former Minister of Health in Ethiopia (2020–2024), Professor Tadesse has profound experience in health systems, maternal and child health, healthcare quality improvement, pandemic preparedness and policy reform. Her work has involved forging local, regional, and global partnerships to advance equitable and resilient health systems.
