About Karina

Karina Vanessa Muniz is a quilombola leader in Quilombo Urbano da Liberdade, São Luís, Brazil. She is a specialist in social psychology and anthropology at the Faculdade Pitágoras/Anhanguera and pedagogic coordinator at the Work Initiation Centre (CIT), São Luís . A postgraduate student of Afro-Brazilian history and culture, she has worked as coordinator of projects and public policies at the Union of Black Men and Women for Equality (UNEGRO). Karina is a member of ANPSINEP, the National Articulation of Black Psychologists and Researchers; a member of the Ethnic-Racial Relations GT of the Regional Psychological Council of Maranhão; and coordinator of Research Group Dialogues in Psychology and Ethnic-Racial Relations at the Federal University of Maranhão.
