About Jennifer

As a political demographer, Dr Jennifer Sciubba believes that understanding fertility, mortality and migration trends is essential to shaping the future we want, and that demography, when placed in the right context, becomes a powerful tool for decision making, equity and accountability. That’s the central argument of her books, 8 Billion and Counting: How Sex, Death, and Migration Shape Our World (2022), and Toxic Demography: Ideology and the Politics of Population (2025).

As President and CEO of the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), Dr Sciubba leads a team dedicated to making population data not just accessible, but understandable and actionable. She has translated demographic insights for The Atlantic, Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post and the TED stage, and published scholarly work in journals and edited volumes.

Before PRB, she was a tenured professor at Rhodes College and a consultant for the US Office of the Secretary of Defense (Policy). She studied at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany and is currently affiliated with the Hess Center for New Frontiers at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
