About Christopher

Christopher Habeenzu is Mayor of Chongwe, Zambia, and brings a wealth of experience to the city’s leadership. He plays a pivotal role in driving economic development and urban transformation. With a background in running a family agro-based business since January 2012, he showcases a commitment to both public service and private enterprise.

He has had a multifaceted career, from tax administration to business owner. During his career at the Zambia Revenue Authority, he played a vital role in shaping tax policies, compliance strategies, and overseeing operational excellence.

Beyond his tax-related contributions, Mayor Habeenzu’s earlier roles in finance and auditing, including positions at Meridien BIAO Bank and Price Waterhouse, equipped him with a diverse skill set.

With a BSc from the University of Zambia, and ACCA stage C, he combines academic skill with practical experience. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his participation in various training sessions, including Senior Management Development programmes in Japan and New Zealand.
