About Karni

Karni is a Bafta-nominated filmmaker and photographer, founder and curator of the EYE MAMA PROJECT. Founded in the pandemic as a community on Instagram, @eyemamaproject showcases the “MAMA GAZE”. Photography looking at care and motherhood, the dark and light, the personal truths, by photographing mamas worldwide. A radical eye on care. It has been showcased in the National Geographic, Vogue Italia, Creative Review, British Journal of Photography, Guardian, WSJ and more. With exhibitions at the Royal Photographic Society, Photo Vogue Festival and Van Leer Institute, The Hague. Eye Mama Book was published in 2023. It won the Lucie Photo Book Prize 2024. The project is a winner of the Lovie Webby and Anthem awards for social diversity and inclusion. It was also featured as part of TED Talks 2025. Currently, we are creating the motherhood archive.
